I've always loved night photography and often I'd attempted it, but not without failure. There's certainly a bunch of problem solving that a night photographer must do to get good images. In the digital age this process has become relatively easy as you can problem solve on location with the instant results you get on the LCD display. Also, the internet has many great resources on night photography. Most of these pictures are long exposures taken at or near full moon. The additional light used to highlight specific areas is provided by flashlights, with or without color gels, depending on the effect I'm going for. If you are interested in this sort of photography there are many great resources at thenocturnes.com. I also have a few night shots in my other galleries.

"Ghosts of Cottonwood" This was one of the funnest shots I've taken. I was a ghost myself, walking around the scene lighting up various areas with nothing but a flashlight and a red tail light lens to provide the reddish glow inside the building. As long as my light is off and I move quickly through the path of the lens, I'm invisible. Although I was alone out there, I felt as though I had some comraderie in the invisible world.
